Locking Arms

We partner with schools in an effort to get young people outside of the four walls and into wild places in hopes that they grow into global thinkers, community leaders, and stand on the front edge of environmental stewardship. We view our relationship with the schools we work with as a partnership, locking arms to enrich students' educational experience and benefit the community.

Experiential Learning Process

Much work has been done in the past decade to increase our ability to leverage the Experiential Learning Process (ELP) with incomparable results. Research shows that retention rates skyrocket when students integrate what they learn in the classroom with real-life, tangible, experiences. We implement an adventure based experiential learning approach that empowers and equips today’s young people.

Global Thinkers

The conversations our staff initiates with students on our trips encourages them to think globally. We believe that cultural awareness is an important characteristic that our young people need if they are going to flourish and contribute to the common good. We take students out of their comfort zones, and occasionally to a mountaintop so that they can gain perspective on the world around them.

THINK GLOBALLY, ACT LOCALLY!

Community Leaders

Our model focuses on the importance of re-engagement. We retreat to rest, risk, and ultimately re-engage in our communities with a renewed sense of purpose and vision. We believe our communities need young people that are empowered to rise up, to be the voice and hope for the community. Without reservation, we promote community involvement and leadership.

Environmental Stewardship

The world is ours to steward and care for. Here in America we are blessed with federal and state protected land to recreate in and enjoy. The decisions we make today will forever impact the next generation. In partnership with the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, we implement environmental stewardship ethics into each of our trips in hopes that young people would take ownership of the world we inhabit and would model stewardship for old and young alike.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHY EXPEDITION?

So glad you asked. You would be hard pressed to find another outfit with the collective experience working with young people we have. We’ve worked for nearly a decade alongside youth leaders and teachers from across the country. The experiential learning process is something we implement into all of our programs, but with our newly launched Education program it becomes the main driver for our approach. Our professionalism, relatability, and industry standard approach to risk mitigation make us one of the top outdoor education providers in the country.

How intense are the trips?

Our Education program specifically designs our trips for the beginner to enjoy and participate in. For most young people, just spending time away from home takes them out of their comfort zone. In an effort to increase the impact of our trips we are careful to run outdoor activities at the introductory level.

Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Absolutely. We partner with you to make sure our menu is appropriate for all parties involved.

Do your guides go through a screening process?

Yes. In addition to a thorough and heavily involved interview process, we run background checks with the state on all of our team members. Your students safety, both emotionally and physically, are our highest priority.

How far in advance should we plan our trips?

We recommend planning at least 6 months out. This ensures that you are able to secure your preferred dates. We are open year round with more flexibility in the Fall and Spring.
