Guide Positions At Expedition
Summer Positions
Expedition has multiple guide positions open for Summer 2018: from highly experienced lead guide positions to internships.
Seasonal positions
The trips we run vary as widely as the clients we serve. Whether in fifth grade or fifty, we craft meaningful experiences. Because of the seasonal influx of trips, we are always looking for seasonal staff to jump in on occasion to help with bigger trips. We classify three positions at Expedition based on experience and outside certifications: Staff, Guide, and Lead Guide
Role and Responsibilities
Expedition Guides typically serve in teams of two as leaders primarily for Wilderness Adventure Trips. Guides may also be asked to assist with Retreats and Education related adventures. Guide teams are responsible for leading groups of 6-15 clients, on 1-6 day wilderness trips.
Attend Instructor training
Attend pre-trip planning meetings and post-trip debriefs with Director of Operations
Manage risk while leading trips (objective and subjective hazards)
Equipment selection and maintenance
Food preparation during trips
Able to engage participants in a manner reflective of Expedition’s core values.
Assist Director of Operations as needed.
Qualifications and Education Requirements (minimum to apply)
High school diploma.
18+ years of age
Ability to account for previous extended backcountry experience
Current Wilderness First Responder and CPR certification (not necessary to apply, see additional notes)
PREFERRED SKILLS
AMGA SPI / WFR / LNT Trainer or better / Experience working with youth / Experience in multiple disciplines (rock climbing, backpacking, etc.)
Availability
Most trips run Monday-Friday with exceptions.
